Marli Madison
Marli New York’s flagship on Madison Avenue blends the brand’s design identity with classic New York City style in pursuit of a modern landmark.
For the headquarters and flagship store, Marli and Aranda\Lasch wanted it to embody the essence and style of New York’s historic Art Deco period: a style that heavily influences Marli’s jewelry collections. Following a series of design charrettes, they accomplished this through the integration of a material that has built and defined the city’s landmarks–Indiana limestone, a soft buff colored stone that clads the facades of many of New York’s icons. The Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, The MET, the NYC Public Library, the Brooklyn Public Library and The Waldorf Astoria, among others, share this rich, malleable stone as their fundamental material.

SOMETHING ABOUT THE PLAN LAYOUT AND SECTION
The store’s double height space facing the street is transformed into an internalized limestone facade, with material fabricated by the same family that provided the stone for the Empire State and Rockefeller Center. Corrugated walls in stone, wood, and brass form a space that echoes the New York streetscape. Accompanied by a large LED display integrated into the geometry, the room is an immersive experience of the brand’s identity.
In addition to the Art Deco influence on the entry volume, the “tunnel,” a section of the store below the mezzanine and in between the two double height spaces at each end, draws heavily from the lobby spaces of New York’s classic towers. From these same landmarks the design adopts and modernizes reflective and gilded materials to create a space that is formally and materially linked to the “facade” but feels more like the “interior”.
Marli Casework
Marli’s jewelry display cases are designed to meet specific staging and merchandising needs, combining textured marble bases with delicate glass and brass enclosures. The Madison store showcases this attention to detail by integrating materially and geometrically complex bases, echoing the architecture of the carpet, walls, and ceiling. The variety of materials and textures provides unique visual experiences of each display from every angle. This design prioritizes visual clarity ensuring that the jewelry takes center stage.

At the other end of the first floor, the space is washed with natural light from a skylight. This glow provides a destination at the end of the first floor, where you are greeted by a bar and seating lounge. Above, you can see a glimpse of the VIP area through a custom designed screen.

As the customers get escorted into the VIP area, the visual influence shifts, referencing NYC’s private clubs in the selection of materials and soft lighting. The Marli Club is a collection of seating areas, with a careful selection of furniture and art, that creates a more domestic and intimate feeling. Maral Artinian, the founder of the brand, will use this space to host her guests, plan collaborations and design the collections. Two prominent furniture pieces were specially commissioned for this space from Djivan Schapira.
