At Aranda\Lasch, we create buildings, art, and software by deeply exploring culture, materials, and algorithmic processes. Our work honors the past and respects cultural traditions while pushing the boundaries of modern possibility. We design to form meaningful connections between people and the things they live with, from homes and stores to objects and furniture.
We combine physical material experiments with generative algorithmic software, believing they enhance each other. In an age dominated by algorithms, we’ve seen their potential marred by frivolity, inequity, and bias. Yet, history teaches us that algorithmic thought can also create spaces of ritual, connect people, foster tradition, and transcend materialism.
Located in New York City and Tucson, the studio is led by Benjamin Aranda, Joaquín Bonifaz and Chris Lasch. Our expertise lies in teaching, writing, and creating works that explore the interplay between systems and enduring human culture.
