Primitives (This Could be an Extraordinary Find)

Primitives (This Could be an Extraordinary Find) is a collaboration with the artist Casey Reas and was first presented as part of Reas’ Ultraconcentrated show at Bitforms gallery in New York. The project builds on the geometric unit of the Primitives series, along with ideas generated by ArandaLasch and Reas for their 2012 Yeasayer Stage design.

Evoking the atmosphere of a research station or communications hub, light pulsates within mirrored cavities. The sculpture’s three-dimensionality continually dissolves and reappears as reflective surfaces react to emitted light. The illuminated patterns are transmitted and distorted across the network as light bounces to create infinite spatial configurations.
